China's top political adviser Wang Yang on Tuesday called for breaking down the barriers in talent development in China to ensure talent in different fields can continue to emerge and support the country's development.
Wang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, made the remarks at a consultation session held in Beijing on how to reinvigorate China through human resource development.
The country needs to improve its system and mechanism as well as provide better policy support to break down the visible barriers in restraining talent development. Also, society's view of talent development needs to be modernized so the invisible barriers of cultivating talent can be removed. Only by doing so can more talent in different fields continue to emerge to support the development of China, Wang said.
At the meeting, 30 representatives of non-CPC political parties shared their views and suggestions on what can be done in various fields to push talent development. They spoke highly of the progress made in the area of talent development in China.
What's more, they suggested that universities should play a better role in supporting talent and researchers. The appraisal system for talent should be based on their practical skills and contribution. The goal is to make China appeal to both domestic and overseas talent, they said.
Chen Xi, a member of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau and head of the CPC Central Committee Organization Department, said at the meeting that historic achievement has been made in talent development in China since the 18th CPC National Congress in 2012.Also, by reinvigorating China through human resource development, more talent can be ready to support the country's development.
