Beijing halts high-level economic dialogue with Canberra

China on Thursday announced that it will indefinitely suspend all activities under the framework of the China-Australia Strategic Economic Dialogue, according to the country's top economic planner.

The National Development and Reform Commission said in a statement posted on its official website that some Australian officials recently launched a series of measures to disrupt the normal exchanges and cooperation between China and Australia out of Cold War mindset and ideological discrimination.

Based on the current attitude of the Australian government toward China-Australia cooperation, it decides to indefinitely suspend all activities under the framework of the China-Australia Strategic Economic Dialogue jointly held by the NDRC and relevant ministries of the Australian government.
