Guangdong reports 15 new local COVID-19 cases

GUANGDONG/BEIJING- South China's Guangdong province registered 15 new locally transmitted confirmed COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, four of which were previously asymptomatic cases, the provincial health commission and the National Health Commission said on Thursday.

Five new locally asymptomatic cases were also reported. All the confirmed cases and asymptomatic cases were reported in the provincial capital city of Guangzhou.

The province also saw two imported confirmed cases and seven imported asymptomatic cases on the same day.

By Wednesday, the Chinese mainland had reported a total of 91,170 confirmed cases, 86,170 recoveries and 4,636 deaths

As of Wednesday, Guangdong had reported a total of 2,498 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 1,040 imported ones, according to the local health authorities.

Meanwhile, the mainland saw a total of nine new imported cases Wednesday, the National Health Commission said in its daily report. 

Besides the two cases reported in Shanghai, three others were posted in Shanghai, two in Sichuan and one each in Beijing and Fujian.

No new suspected cases or deaths related to COVID-19 were reported on Wednesday, the commission said.

There were 364 patients still receiving treatment, seven of whom were in severe condition, it said.

By Wednesday, the mainland had reported a total of 91,170 confirmed cases, 86,170 recoveries and 4,636 deaths. A total of 6,086 imported cases had been reported with no deaths.

There were two suspected COVID-19 cases on the mainland on Wednesday.

On the same day, 18 new asymptomatic cases were reported, including 13 from outside the mainland. 

More than 700 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines had been administered across the mainland as of Wednesday, the commission said.

By the end of Wednesday, 11,848 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 210 deaths, had been reported in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), 51 cases in the Macao SAR, and 9,389 cases, including 149 deaths, in Taiwan.

A total of 11,576 COVID-19 patients in the Hong Kong SAR had been discharged from hospitals following recovery, 49 in the Macao SAR, and 1,133 in Taiwan.
