No new local COVID-19 cases on mainland, 24 imported

BEIJING – The Chinese mainland on Thursday reported 24 new COVID-19 cases, all of which were imported, the National Health Commission said in its daily report on Friday.

Of the new cases cases, 11 were reported in Fujian, nine in Shanghai, and one each in Henan, Hunan, Guangdong and Sichuan, the commission said.

No new suspected cases or deaths related to COVID-19 were reported, the commission added.

By the end of Thursday, the mainland had reported a total of 90,944 confirmed cases, including 86,005 recoveries and 4,636 deaths

By the end of Thursday, the mainland had reported a total of 90,944 confirmed cases, including 86,005 recoveries and 4,636 deaths. A total of 5,925 imported cases had been reported on the mainland with no deaths.

There were 303 patients still receiving treatment, five of whom were in severe condition, the commission said.

There was one suspected COVID-19 case on the mainland, the commission added.

Also on Thursday, 25 new asymptomatic cases were reported, 23 of which had arrived from outside the mainland. There were a total of 364 asymptomatic cases, 344 of which were imported, under medical observation.

By the end of Thursday, 11,828 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 210 deaths, had been reported in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), while 50 cases had been reported in the Macao SAR, and 2,825 cases, including 15 deaths, had been reported in Taiwan.

A total of 11,542 COVID-19 patients in the Hong Kong SAR had been discharged from hospitals following recovery, 49 in the Macao SAR, and 1,133 in Taiwan.

Nearly 466.7 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines had been administered in China as of Thursday, the commission said Friday.
