Kalshi to introduce a “Parents Portal” to curb underage use

2026-04-20

(AsiaGameHub) –   Kalshi, a platform for prediction markets, has revealed new initiatives aimed at preventing minors from using its services, featuring improved identity checks and methods to spot the unauthorized use of parental identification for account creation.

Speaking at the Semafor World Economy conference, Co-founder and CEO Tarek Mansour described Kalshi’s strategy to block a frequent tactic where underage individuals use their parents’ details to get around age limits.

A primary component of Kalshi’s plan is the development of a dedicated portal for parents to investigate whether their personal information is being used on the site without their authorization.

Co-founder and CEO Tarek Mansour, stated:

We are introducing a parent-specific portal that allows individuals to submit their ID to check for misuse, even if they have no intention of using Kalshi themselves. This enables them to identify if their children are utilizing their credentials and manage the situation.

The tool is built to operate independently of the platform’s existing user accounts, meaning parents do not have to register to check for potential identity theft. This system offers parents increased transparency and oversight if their data is being used to bypass age protocols.

Furthermore, Kalshi is upgrading its sign-up procedure by incorporating AI-based facial verification. New registrants will need to submit a selfie to be cross-referenced with their provided identification documents.

Mansour noted that the intent is to foster a sense of responsibility among close contacts:

We want to build a structure of accountability between friends and family members so they can intervene if someone is overextending themselves. Our goal is for this to serve as a beneficial tool rather than one that encourages reckless behavior.

In addition to these new compliance steps, Kalshi is taking a lead in tackling underage usage and fostering greater user accountability. The company is currently operating in a changing legal environment, with upcoming judicial decisions expected to shape the future of prediction market regulation in the United States.
